Refashion ,,,I hope!

Saturday night I took apart a size 22-28 sweater/poncho/cape thing I bought from Lane Bryant around seven years ago . I've only worn it a handful of times (probably three? ) in all that time . It's pretty but VERY voluminous. And very ,very WARM!
With enough fabric in the piece to cover the average car hood or round picnic table I decided to try refashioning it into a sweater dress . I took apart the thing at the seams with only a few flubs (which I think I fixed..) . I plan to take the purl selvedge and use that for side seams /reinrorcement and have the ribbed edges that were the side-of-poncho become the neckline and hem . The small scoop where the turtleneck collar was ,I hope to utilize as waist shaping ,possibly by gathering it into a bit of a starburst from the sideseam design detail (maybe bead a bit /reinforce it from the back at this point?).
I also sanded down the eight buttons that graced the shoulderline of the capething. I'll most likely re-sew them onto the dress just in a closer spaced formation.
I told Mom,Grams, and Mrs Morton about it -they all want to see it when I get it finished . I am choosing to hand sew this as I'm not really comfy yet sewwing looser knits on my machine.

I want to fix a rust & hibiscus print dress too -just a two or three inch rent on the seam -shouldn't take that long!I may pull it out and get it done tonight!

Yesterday I got my brown rayon maxi dress altered by taking up the shoulders .It seems to have turned out well -though I haven't tried it on after finishing it. Must hang it up tonight as I'm thinking of wearing it tomorrow (Sunday).I also fixed a cream sweater and my blue-ish toned subliminal print peasant top,and hemmed my white and woodbine green(green olive minus the pimentos color)floral wrap skirt.

Today I mended two pairs of jeans that had catch spots on the tush. Also mended a few spots in the top tier of a tierred peasant skirt -which like my brown print one is going to require fixing the raw edges of most of the tiers.Started the hemming in serger yellow orange thread which seems to match the existing seams.
I found this skirt in one of my tubs in the sewwing room today . I think I got it at a thrift store and because it was fraying ,I decided that it and the brown one I had bought new had to be seam/hemmed.Ugh -it takes FOREVER to do by hand .And seems like its probably the best way as there isn't a even seam-allowance amount all around it.

I'm trying to go through and de-junk and actually FINISH/DO the alterations not just keep them (Hoard) .As hoarding really isn't healthy and impairs my and MOM'S creativity . You can't get in and sew in a sewwing room if you have no room to work on your project. Not all mess in there is MY fault as Mom has been clearing out stuff that doesn't work/fit her anymore (Good for her -she's been slowly loosing some weight!) Much of the castoffs will be consigned -unfortunately it probably won't get to Grace's til next month.Hope some has sold by then!

My plans are to fix the big cat tee,the neverendingTierredSKIRTS (love the skirts -but I'm doing the hemming in stages so I don't grow to hate them by the time I finish),fix a side seam on a dress (rust -with hibiscus yellow floral) ,and tack the pocket flaps on a Torrid cropped breen color corduroy bomber jacket.
I also have several skirts that need elastic at the waist (a navy &white&woodbine floral needs rehemming too)or a sideseam or dart take in at the waist. As do a LONG list of Capris and long pants .
Capris: Scarlet;Navy;Turquoise;White/brown striped;Brown.
Ankle pants :Periwinkle (Amparo Blue)Floral;Black/ivory floral
Pants: Brown linen trouser;Black/white tweed;Dk Green herringbone;Navy;Gray
I suspect I may need Mom's help with the pants -at least the first few pairs /or for pinning.

To Start ..

To Start .

I thought it would be a good idea to start blogging about my sewwing ,alterations ,refashions and crafts. I figure that by blogging about it , I can clarify my thoughts and ideas ,plan projects and remember what on earth I was thinking of doing with (fill in the blank -fabric/refashion item/mending job) .
As a bonus I expect I'll develop better skills/speed at typing,and writing .

If I ever get anyone (other than myself ) reading this blog then I hope it blesses you and helps /encourages you to sew and create.
Maybe I'll figure out/learn how to post pictures too..
